Bid Manager
The Bid Manager will support the UK and European Senior Management Team in preparing first-class bid and pitch documentation to secure new business and meet company objectives. They will champion best bidding practices across the business and plan for, develop and submit winning bid responses that meet client requirements whilst showcasing company expertise and capabilities.
As Bid Manager, you will be responsible for the preparation and quality aspects of pre-qualification questionnaires and tender submissions for various clients. This will include collating, coordinating, and reviewing information from others, ensuring timely completion and full compliance with tender requirements.
Core Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will include the following:
✓ Reviewing, issuing and coordinating responses. Be a confident and competent bid writer able to create, re-write or polish bid content. This includes being able to identify when responses do not meet client requirements and supporting the author to improve ahead of review
✓ Coordinating the project management of the bid/pitch process, overseeing input from the various teams. Oversee the overall progress of bids, initiating corrective action if required to ensure the bid is submitted on time
✓ Liaising with internal and external clients to source the necessary relevant information
✓ Where required, collaborate with members of the Lysander Alliance eg. as part of a joint venture
✓ Creating high-quality client proposals, including bid/pitch submissions, pre-qualification questionnaires, presentations and capability statements
✓ Editing/re-writing boilerplate text bespoke to client requirements
✓ Completing PQQ and RFP requests with standard company information
✓ Co-ordinating document design and layout for tender submissions and other documentation (in line with brand guidelines)
✓ Coordinating the standard information reference library, ensuring it is continually updated with current information. Drive continuous improvement by harvesting model answers, conducting lessons learned sessions and influencing bidding behaviours by sharing best practices and coaching colleagues
✓ Creation of thought leadership pieces. Working with the teams to review and comment on industry trends and developments. Producing articles which can be shared on social media and with clients
✓ Challenge existing processes and embrace new ways of working that improve how we deliver successful bids
Experience:
✓ Minimum five years experience in bidding/pitching
✓ An understanding of the construction industry preferred
✓ Ability to demonstrate experience in successfully coordinating and producing bids
✓ Ability to show continuous improvement and innovation to develop quality bid/pitch documentation for clients
✓ Ability to coordinate the bid/pitch process and effectively produce bids/pitches with multiple parties
Qualifications:
✓ Strong command of both spoken and written English (essential)
✓ Degree in a relevant discipline (desirable) Skills & Personal Qualities:
✓ Excellent communication skills are essential as you will be dealing with internal and possibly external clients on a regular basis
✓ Strong Microsoft Office skills, with exceptional Word and PowerPoint formatting skills and Excel numeracy and formula understanding
✓ Adobe Design Package experience would be an advantage
✓ Excellent presentation and influencing skills
✓ Keen attention to detail, with a focus on understanding client requirements
✓ Ability to communicate at different levels of the organisation
✓ Strong time management, planning and organisational skills
✓ Focused, self-motivated and results-oriented ✓ Proactive nature with an ability to show initiative
✓ Capable of managing and working with teams in the different group companies
✓ Flexible approach to working to ensure deadlines are met
✓ Demonstrate a professional approach and image to internal and external clients and consultants, both in person and in all communications
